Cuisine

Dining at Tiroran is a special and integral part of your stay.  Not only is the focus on using as much Isle of Mull, Scottish, seasonal and fresh produce as is possible  but Katie is Cordon-bleu trained so her food is freshly prepared  and tastes delicious.  She works completely by herself to produce dinner and breakfast, and cooks using the large Aga in Tiroran's kitchen with literally what is available that day!

"We dined in what what can only be described as one of the most romantic settings you will find in the islands .......... The intimate dining room extends into a vine-covered conservatory, looking out to the gardens and loch. the vine branches and fresh young leaves brought nature to our table, and with candles twinkling, laughter and good conversation the setting was perfect ..........Most importantly the dining experience was exceptional"

Archie Mackenzie, Editor, Scottish Field (June 2007 Edition)

After a day out and about, return to the comfort of Tiroran to get ready for the evening.  We respectfully ask that you try to complete your dinner order on your return or before 6.30pm as there is only so much that Katie can prepare in advance.  We change the menu daily, never carrying the same food over to the next day, so when you do come to stay, if you can manage to do this, it helps enormously to produce the freshest possible food.

Settle down in the big sofas beside the fire for pre-dinner drinks and dinner follows around 8pm  at your own private candlelit table, either in the intimate dining room or adjoining conservatory.  Please see our sample menus below.

Tiroran House has had a long association with reputable wine merchant Corney and Barrow and we carry an interesting and varied list of good quality wines as well as an extensive choice of Scottish Single Malts for your perusal and enjoyment.

When booking we recommend that you dine at Tiroran due to our remote location, we also ask if you have any particular likes or dislikes regarding food, and if there is anything that you can't eat; we then make sure that we have considered your requirements on the menu during your stay. We cater for special diets such as vegetarian, vegan and coeliac however, this is not always possible without prior warning when booking.

Please note that we do not normally take children under 14 into our dining room as the menu is not geared to a younger palate, however, your children are very welcome to take an early supper by prior arrangement.
