Mull is one of the UKs premier wildlife destinations, with a large number of important and well-known species not only present but also easy for visitors to find.  Many species co exist and there is an abundance of the following creatures to find.

Red deer, fallow deer, mountain hare, enchanting otters, wild mountain goats (that were bought to our shores by Armada ships) many beautiful insects too, such as dragonflies, butterflies such as the Scotch burnet, pearl-bordered fritillary, marsh fritillary and the lesser butterfly orchid.

And we cannot forget the small animals too, common lizards, adders and slow worms, wood mice, common and water pygmy shrews, short tailed voles and stoats, polecat and ferret hybrids.

We would urge all visitors to the island to take a wildlife trip early on during their holiday, by doing so you can find out where certain species currently are during your holiday and spend time each day afterwards knowing where to spot creatures such as the otter families as you travel around.

We recommend Bryan Rains –www.wildaboutmull.co.uk – 01681 704229 – as most often he will collect you from Tiroran House and bring you back at the end of the tour and therefore avoid you having to travel north or southwards only to return to this area of rich and diverse habitat.

In order to see as many species as possible we would highly recommend a wildlife trip with Bryan Rains at Wild about Mull –www.wildaboutmull.co.uk – 01681 704229
